Thoughts on Nov. 4th

I've been up since 6:00 a.m. and my stomach is in knots. I knew I would feel like this, I always do when elections roll around. I have always been politically active and educated on issues and candidates, I love politics. This year has been different, sadly and disturbingly different. I am absolutely and completely amazed at the level of ignorance and arrogance that so many political leaders and average Americans today are displaying. It is truly frightening.
Simple questions:
How can a nation vote for a man who has accomplished nothing?
How can a nation vote for someone they know so little about?
Doesn't making and keeping your hard earned money mean anything?
Isn't it important to have the strongest and most powerful military in the world when we are still the #1 target of terrorists who are THRILLED with the supposed new "commander in chief?"
Isn't it a little odd that the leaders of Iran and Hammas have endorsed this man?
Don't associations and friends reflect who you are?
Why would you openly and aggressively want to "bankrupt" the coal industry...one of the most important industries in America?
Why would anyone vote for someone who supports providing ANY medical attention to babies born ALIVE after an abortion?
What is going to be the incentive for anyone to work hard when their hard earned wealth is going to be "SPREAD AROUND?"
"I am my brother's keeper, my sister's keeper"-my favorite quote from the "chosen one's"speech. Isn't it just crazy that his brother lives in a hut and his aunt lives in a slum in Boston? Couldn't he spread some of his wealth around to them....just a little?
Isn't it odd that my husband and I have given more in "charitable contributions" than the pres/vp elect have? And yes, their income is WAAAAAY bigger than ours.
A college education is NOT A RIGHT!
A home is NOT A RIGHT!
Poor people are not all of a sudden going to become rich if the "chosen one" is elected. Nothing will "change" for them. They'll only Feeeeel better.
Those who are miserable and wanting a handout will still be miserable- yet they will receive a piece of my husband's paycheck. All in the name of (as Joe Biden so eloquently stated)..."Fairness!"
You tell me what's FAIR about those 40 % of Americans who don't pay income taxes getting checks from those of us who are taxed through the nose?!!!
Doesn't the constitution mean anything?
Your taxes are going UP...I don't care who you are or where you are!
I would enjoy visiting Europe someday but I do not want to live there.
Doesn't it worry anyone that he is supported so fiercely by Hollywood idiots like Scarlett Johannsen and P Diddy. Come on!!!!!
How can members of my faith vote for this man? That is what truly has me sad and baffled?

There is so much at stake in this election. I love my country and I truly fear for the success of our nation if this man is elected. I'm going to now go take a shower after my hard earned workout. I will let the water run and hopefully wash the idea of Obama out of my hair.

Ignorance is the most expensive commodity in America.

If it makes you feel any better, so far it is close. Even with Black Panthers "protecting" certain voting locations.

Thought you might enjoy this...

*'Twas the night before elections*

*And all through the town*

*Tempers were flaring*

*Emotions all up and down!*

**

*I, in my bathrobe*

*With a dog in my lap*

*Had cut off the TV*

*Tired of political crap.

**

*When all of a sudden*

*There arose such a noise*

*I peered out of my window*

*And saw Obama and his boys*

**

*They had come for my wallet*

*They wanted my pay*

*To give it to the others*

*Who had not worked a day!*

**

*He snatched up my money*

*And quick as a flash*

*Jumped back on his bandwagon*

*With all of my stash*

**

*He then rallied his henchmen*

*Who were pulling his cart*

*I could tell they were out*

*To tear my country apart!*

**

*'On Fannie, on Freddie, *

*On Biden and Ayers!*

*On Acorn, On Pelosi'*

*He screamed at the pairs!*

**

*They took off for his cause*

*And as he flew out of sight*

*I heard him laugh at the nation*

*That wouldn't stand up and fight!*

**

*So I leave you to think*

*On this one final note-*

*IF YOU DON'T WANT SOCIALISM*

*THEN GET OUT AND "VOTE"*

I'm right there with you. Curtis and I are reading "Hubener vs. Hitler" about Helmuth Hubener, a 17-year old Latter Day Saint in WWII Germany who dared to disagree with da Furor and had the nerve to seek information from the BBC and type up the things he learned to distruibute to those who were interested. For this most serious of offenses, he was tortured and given the death sentence via the guillotine-wow. The party of "the chosen one" (in small letters) is now getting so excited about bringing about the fairness doctrine (among many other "enlightened" things) to eliminate any voice of dissent from talk radio and only talk radio. I thought freedom of speech was something we held dear here in the US of A, I guess it's just freedom of left speech...
But hey, tomorrow is a new day, and even a bad day in America is better than a good day nearly everywhere else...

Well said. The only thing that will salvage this day for me is if prop 8 passes. I think I just need to go to bed...I don't think I can even stomach my DWTS.

I like your post. Sadly, I just woke up here and see the results I had so hoped wouldn't be. I'm sad for our country. I live in Europe, but was so looking forward to coming home. But, I really wanted to come home to the country I know.

I just hope we have our eyes open through all of this. It's really pretty scary. ~Heather

Yesterday I was a Republican poll watcher, one of my places was the Muckelshoot reservation and I observed and have removed 2 copies of the sheet prepared by the tribe to help their members vote. It has a democate ticket for govenor (since Gregoire purchased the indian tribal votes) up through the President. Yes I know it is legal to take a premarked sample into the booth with a voter, but since we had almost as many non-registsered voters vote on provisional ballots (yes we'll have to see if they were counted) as registsered voters it became very upsetting as every voter I observed came with their sample to copy. Why is it only the Democrat party buys group votes, with the tribes, the unions, the teacher associations. The union does not pay the workers check the small business does and we send tons of money to the union for the right to step on us. Yes I am not a cheerful woman today. Thanks for letting me vent.

My heart is broken. My mind is dull. I'm not quite sure what to think today. We are supposed to have hope and no fear, but it my OUR NEIGHBORS that helped put us here today. Why? They don't even know. Ignorance is bliss- for the ignorant!

Well said. It is so hard to live in Washington State where it is so completely BLUE! I ask Charlie all the time, "How did we end up living in such a liberal state???" I can't decide if I feel more sick over Obama or Gregoire. I can't even say her name out loud without blood shooting out of my eyes. I don't like feeling sad, but this day after election day...I just do. Thanks for you enjoyable blog! Pam (P.S. Cheeky is really Pam and Charlie)
