In conclusion

The saga of Cole's broken elbow has come to an end. This lovely lady below "vibrated" the cast right off -and just so you know...according to her, "it doesn't hurt." So no need to cry if you are say around 4 years old and there's a mean looking saw thingy grinding into your arm...no tears, just wipe them away. Thanks nurse.

It was a sweet bright green cast that no one was allowed to write on...good times.

The pins. Totally eeeuuuuuuuw to me. It was hard watching the doc shimmy the pins right on out of Cole's BONE. No numbing or anything....just pull/tug/twist....out. Lots of well deserved screaming and crying ensued. Lots of never been allowed before treats from moms purse were dispersed.

I should have taken a picture of the pins..sticking out of the elbow but forgot. You can see the 2 hole marks amongst the little cast rash.

I'm so thankful that this whole thing is over. Isn't modern medicine incredible? Two pins were stuck in his little broken elbow...3 weeks go by and new bone has grown together and it's healing right where it should be. Amazing!

Wow! That is amazing! That made me squirm just lookin' at the pictures. What a tough dude. I think he deserved all those never-before-allowed treats. I'm glad it's all over for him (and you:) ). Youch!

How funny/crazy that you have the same thing!

It seemed like a really rare infection, what happened to my son. I'm sure it'll be totally fine.

(But, if, in 2 years, he starts complaining about pain at the pin site...you know what to do!)

Cole is my new superhero! Man, that lady was holding a full-on BONE SAW!? If that isn't enough to scare an adult, let alone a 4-year-old, then her ladybug scrubs, fake nails and heavy makeup certainly would have.

Also, do you know Jessica Romney? I somehow found her blog when it was suggested on my Google Reader as one I would enjoy. I lurk on her blog and think that her family are just darling. Does this make me psycho? I think it would make it less psycho if I could now say, "Oh, Jessica? She's a friend of a friend..."

Okay-eewwwww, pins and pliers and compassion from the nurse, too, wow...what I didn't see was a quarter stuck to his arm in the cast (on Celia's blog), oh well!! Very impressive keeping the neon green pristine!!

I would have been crying myself. I am also very impressed with the nice clean green cast! I have always thought that written on casts were so tacky and dirty looking, I put it up there with people walking across the snow in the front yard of my house. Some things just need to be neat and well preserved.

Cole is so brave! We saved Sid's pink cast. Someday we will have to compare casts. Hope you have a great time visiting your family. Be Safe!
