Add to the Ipod

I'm not a runner. I've never been a runner. I consider myself athletic and have played sports all my life. Sports that include A LOT of running are not my fave ie: running, cross country, track..you get the point. However, the last couple of months I have learned to , how shall I say it...enjoy....no, like....no, ......appreciate running. Now, I'm not saying that I run miles and miles everyday, or have a whole new spandex wardrobe, what I am saying is that I am going to do my first 5K on Saturday and I am actually really pumped about it. I've been doing my own prep runs and am thrilled with myself. I know 3 miles or so isn't hugely long but for me...the NON runner.....it's fantastic! YAHOO!
So here's where you come into play. The Ipod is currently being stocked with "keep me running and happy about it" songs. I'm racking my brain and out of ideas. What songs keep you running or working out or PUMPED??? Saturday people.....send the songs and speedy vibes my way.

Hey there! Will downloaded a Lance Armstrong thing off itunes and it has lots of good running songs we like. :) You could always go with the classic ACDC songs. :) Good luck with your 5k!

You rock, you speedy, zippy, brisk, fast-paced, runner girl, you!! You'll do fantastic and I will suggest the Ting-Ting's (thank YOU for that one)-there are three speed-inducing tunes that will totally work, there may even be more, who knows! I always am inspired by the eloquent Rocky Balboa ("it ain't about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you didn't get hit! How much you can take and keep moving forward...that's how winning is done!!")-it just makes you want to run, whether you're on a sunny California beach or in Siberia pulling a handcart with Paulie and Adrien on board...it's all good stuff!!
You'll do fantastic!!
xoxo-Kir

Rush-Big Audio Dynamite
The Guitar-They Might Be Giants
Goody Two Shoes-Adam Ant
A Little Less Conversation-Elvis Presley (mix version)
Sweet Home Alabama-Lynard Skynard
Under Pressure-David Bowie & Queen

Just check out my playlist on my blog if you would like to preview any of these and several others. I always went biking with "Yaz". "The Mighty, Mighty Bosstones" could keep you pumped. I enjoy "The Presidents of the United States of America"- fun music.

Good luck with Saturday! I know you'll do great- I'm very proud! But one question... how do you keep your earbuds in??????

I'm glad youre with me on the pullups. Its nice to know I am not alone! As for the ipod songs. . . try some MIKA. I also have some Collective Soul, Black Eyed Peas, Cold Play . . . anything up beat, as I love to run, but obviously havne't done it for a while. I just singed myself up for a half marathon in Sept. and Now I am kicking myself cause that means I have to get to work. A 5k sounds way better to me. You will do awesome.

I like Aerosmith, especially "Sweet Emotion", I like to exercise to not-to-fast stuff as it puts a lot of pressure on me to be fast, when we all know that is not going to happen. What really gets me moving/motivated are songs like Queen's "Fat Bottom Girls"...that, and neighbors telling me I am fat. I am proud of you, I have only done one 5K, it was grueling, but I was/still am SOOOO proud of myself. Happy running!

I am so proud of you! I'd throw in a little Sound of Music to keep you happy and focused. :) Toss in some Guns n'roses and Bon Jovi for old times! :)

Hey Kari! Good job on running. Impressive. I hope you were able to find all the tunes you needed to keep you happy. I'm tired just imagining your run. Good work!

I am also not a runner, but I do it because it takes little athletic ability, but a lot of will power. I don't listen to any music because I run with a partner and she can get me through those walls. I'm a talker, but I've heard that I'm different. Find a good partner, it makes the biggest difference. Good luck!
